Glenn Tuttle Jr., 84, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at Windmill Manor in Coralville during a brief stay.

There will be a private graveside ceremony for family at the Rock Island National Cemetery followed by a luncheon for friends and loved ones at 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at the Morse Community Club. Glenn was born Sept. 15, 1925, in Scott Township, Johnson County, Iowa, the son of Jasper and Etta Marie Jones Tuttle. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was united in marriage to Joyce “Liz” Wyjack of Iowa City. He owned Tuttle and Son’s Tree Service and also worked in trucking and construction.

For years Glenn was a Harley-Davidson rider. He and Liz traveled and later as the kids arrived would pack up all four boys on the cycle and head out for a country ride. Glenn is a well known West Branch community member of over 59 years, much of that time living in the home place on Water Street. He was also a talented pool player. All four boys worked in the many family businesses, learning valuable skills and trades. He was a strong presence in his grandchildren’s lives and was able to enjoy his great-grandkids.

He is survived by his wife Joyce “Liz” Tuttle of the Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center in West Branch; four sons, Joe Tuttle (wife Annie) of Lake Arrowhead, Calif., Peter Tuttle (wife Donna) of West Branch, Sam Tuttle (wife Candy) of Aurora, Colo., and Ted Tuttle (wife Sandy) of West Branch; sister Sylvia Pence of West Branch; grandchildren and great-grandchildren Tara Goodman (husband Jonathan) and Mattea and McKinley of Greenbrier, Ark., Kiersten Bucknell (husband Shannon) and Sullivyn, Laikyn and Liesl of West Branch, Kate Tuttle of Wilton, Lisa Tuttle of Madison, Wis., Lacey Tuttle of Aurora, Colo., Trinity Tuttle of Las Vegas, Ethan Tuttle and Noah of Aurora, Colo., Jill Tuttle and Makynna and Olivia of Washington, Iowa, and Calvin Tuttle of West Branch; step-grandchildren Amy Wolf (husband Brad), Amber and Emma of West Branch, and Chad Bowman and Brittany and Jake of Guernsey, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Melba McElderry.
