$3,000 grant for anti-bully program
News · June 24, 2009

A consortium of anti-bullying volunteers were awarded a $3,000 grant to develop a program at West Branch Community Schools.

West Branch Police Chief David Bloem, who represents the police department on the committee, accepted a check earlier this month from the Cedar County Foundation to help pay for materials for the group, which formed in the fall.

Bloem said the program needs about $6,000 for T-shirts, signs, banners and other items to promote the bullying prevention program, which is being developed by representatives of area churches, the West Branch Public Library, the city Parks and Recreation Department and the WBPD.

“This is how we’re getting started,” he said.
