8th boys win three of four Sports · February 22, 2018
West Branch Middle School’s eighth-grade boys basketball team won three of four games in the past week against West Liberty and Regina.
“In the A games, we did a really good job with the half court trap,” Coach Rich Stout said. “It helped us take control of both games, including a 21-0 second quarter against Regina. Our rebounding has also improved a lot from early in the year.”
“The B team struggled shooting from the floor against West Liberty, but we bounced back to play well and get the win against Regina,” he added.
Against West Liberty, the A team won 56-31.
Scoring: Peyton Miller 16, Cash Woody 15, Drake Berry 2, Brady Knoop 8, Thomas Gould 15
The team shot 7-8 from the free-throw line and had 30 rebounds, 4 blocks, 12 steals, 14 assists and 11 turnovers.
In the B game, the Bears lost by a single basket, 20-18.
Scoring: Zander Hartnett 5, Gavin Hills 1, Dylan Countryman 2, Seth Franzoni 10
The team shot 2-3 from the free-throw line and had 24 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 assists and 3 turnovers.
Against Regina, the A team won 55-30.

The team shot 3-11 from the free-throw line and had 35 rebounds, 4 blocks, 12 steals, 15 assists and 8 turnovers.
In the B game, the Bears won 26-15.

The team shot 2-3 from the free-throw line and had 28 rebounds, 1 block, 6 steals, 4 assists, and 9 turnovers.
