Ruby Arnold, 100, of West Liberty passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at Windmill Manor Care Center in Coralville.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at the First Church United in West Liberty. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery; visitation was prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ministerial Association Help Fund.

Ruby was born in McClean County, N.D., the daughter of Erik and Signe (Jensen) Erickson. She graduated from Wilton High School in 1936. On Feb. 19, 1938, she was united in marriage to Stewart “Jack” Arnold. The couple farmed in the Atalissa area until their retirement in 1974. Following their move to West Liberty, Ruby had worked as a cook at the Simpson Memorial Home and Muscatine County Fair Grounds, baked pies for a restaurant and worked elections. They then moved to West Liberty where they lived until May 2004, moving to Windmill Manor in Coralville. She was a member of the Danish Brotherhood, Christian Church in Atalissa and later First Church United in West Liberty. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and painting.

Survivors include her four daughters: Betty (Richard) Beinke of Atalissa, Judith Sharar of Plainfield, Ill., Ruth DeClercq of North Liberty, Iowa, and Susan (Gary) Kobes of Mission, Texas; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two great-grandchildren, Raymond Elshoff and Bobbie Jo Beinke; sisters Marian Moeller, Ann Decker, Otilda “Tillie” Timmsen and twin sister Ruth Kephart; brothers Hans, Alfred and Einer Erickson; and a son-in-law Chuck DeClercq.
