Clara Mae “Larry” King, 97, of Litchfield Park, Ariz., died May 20, 2017, at La Loma Care Center. She was born March 6, 1920 in West Branch, Iowa to James Emanuel and Clara Rose Larson.

Clara attended Grinnell College and graduated from Kean University in New Jersey; and on May 16, 1942, she married James Otis King. Clara taught elementary school in Denville, N.J., from 1959 to 1982.

Clara loved flower gardening and travel. She had a great sense of design, be it clothes, architecture, jewelry or automobiles.

Clara is survived by her children, Sally White of Litchfield Park, Ariz., and Brian King (wife, Anne Lynn) of Jarrettsville, Md.; two grandchildren, Brice and Matthew King; and three great-grandchildren, Amy Sampley, Sierra King, and Phoebe King.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Otis King, and granddaughter, Ruth Anne White.

A celebration of life will be held in Litchfield Park at a later date. Burial will be in West Branch, Iowa.
