Ronald Wieskamp, 77, of Nichols passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at Church of St. Mary in Nichols. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nichols. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty, where a service of prayer will be held at 7:30 p.m. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. Ron was born on Nov. 3, 1938, at Nichols, the son of Raymond and Marguerite Foley Wieskamp. He graduated from Nichols High School in the class of 1957. Ron served in the U.S. Navy for four years, stationed in California where he was an airplane mechanic on an aircraft carrier. On July 17, 1965, he was united in marriage to Ann State at St. Mathias Church in Muscatine.
Ron began farming with his father and continued until his retirement in 2002.
He was a member of Church of St. Mary, enjoyed fishing and spending time at his home in Texas, golfing and was a member of the West Liberty County Club for many years. He also enjoyed fireworks and attending his grandchildren’s activities.
Survivors include wife Ann of Nichols; two sons: Kevin (Jennifer) Wieskamp and Scott (Shelly) Wieskamp. both of Muscatine; three grandchildren: John, Hannah and Claire; sister Naomi Wieskamp of Iowa City; four brothers: Eugene (Lorraine) Wieskamp of Ocala, Fla., Roger (Linda) Wieskamp of Iowa City, Dennis Wieskamp of Columbus, Ohio, and Gerald (Rita) Wieskamp of Rutherfordton, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
