William B. Kron Jr., 66, of West Branch, formerly of Hills and Iowa City, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Funeral service was Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Visitation was Monday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com.
William Bernard Kron was born Nov. 15, 1949, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of William B. and Evelyna (Cole) Kron. He attended Regina High School in Iowa City and was a graduate of City High in the Class of 1967. He was married to Sandy Harris and they had a daughter Kim, he later married Catherine Mayla and together they had two daughters Angelina and Keszia. He most recently was united in marriage to Debra Schmidt on April 21, 1995, in Iowa City and their children are Jathan and DaLana.
Bill was a businessman all his life, owning and operating a gas station off Interstate 80 in Iowa City and owning and operating Hawkeye Country Auto in Iowa City until 1999 when he moved to West Branch with the business. He was active in many things, his community and many school programs.
Survivors include his wife Debra of West Branch. Children and grandchildren surviving include daughter, Kim (Jim) Schmidt of Eau Claire, Wis., and children Hunter Koenig, Andrew Schmidt and Ben Schmidt; daughter Angelina Jones of Belle Plaine, Iowa, and children Brittany Jones, Lewis Jones and Crystal Walsh; daughter Keszia (Bryce) Hale of Dunnellon, Fla., and daughter Siena Hale; son Jathan Kron of Iowa City; and daughter DaLana Kron of West Branch. Also surviving is brother Steve (Amy) Kron of Iowa City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Doug and a sister Tresa.
