This year’s Life Celebration will be held in conjunction with Hoover’s Hometown Days on August 8, hosted by the Hoover Presidential Foundation at the Hoover Stage on the front lawn of the Hoover Presidential Library Museum.

The program in honor of Hoover’s birthday will begin at 1 p.m. with West Branch High School’s Accafellas singing “America the Beautiful”. Keynote speaker will be Eric Wakin, the Robert H. Malott Director of the Hoover Institution Library and Archives in Palo Alto, Calif.

Margaret Hoover, great-granddaughter of Herbert Hoover, will MC the ceremony.

Distinguished guests in attendance include Peter Swisher, superintendent of the Hoover National Historic Site; Tom Schwartz, director of the Hoover Presidential Library Museum; and members of the Hoover family.

Birthday cake will be served at the end of the program. The event is free and open to the public.

The free family event offers activities for children, concerts, great food, a variety of craft vendors, and other family entertainment, capped by a large fireworks display put on by the City of West Branch.
