Funeral services for Mary Jane “Jeannie” Claeys Streets, 83, of West Branch, Iowa, formerly of East Moline, IL, were Tuesday at Christ The King Catholic Church in Moline, Ill. Burial was in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation was Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary was recited.
Mrs. Streets died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at Crestview Care and Rehab Center in West Branch, Iowa.
Jeannie Van Melkebeke was born May 19, 1931, in Moline, Ill., the daughter of Louie and Madeline Six Van Melkebeke. She married Randall P. Claeys on May 28, 1949, in Rapids City, Ill. He died on Feb. 18, 1987. She later married Larry Streets on Dec. 22, 2012, in Valparaiso, Ind. She had owned and operated Jeannie’s Beauty Shop in East Moline. She had worked at Klockau & McCarthy in Rock Island, Ill., retiring after 13 years of service. Jeannie loved to dance. She was an avid ballroom dancer and square dancer. She had been a member of the Downey, Iowa, Sew & So’s Club. She also enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Streets of West Branch; daughter, Christine Sullivan of Valparaiso, Ind.; grandson Latham Randall Sullivan of Valparaiso, Ind.; stepdaughters Kimberly (Mark) Ford of Charlotte, N.C., and Kathryn (Mark) Worrell of West Branch; four stepgrandchildren; and sister Alice (Camiel) Albecht of Tucson, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; and stepson, Michael Streets.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
