Steven James Bickford, 51, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, in West Branch after a short battle with cancer.
Steve was born Dec. 8, 1970, in San Jose, Calif., the son of Donald R. Bickford and Sandra (Newton) Bickford-Perry.
He graduated from Oakgrove High School. He later studied Computer Assisted Design Graphics and worked for various companies in the field of design graphics.
He moved to Iowa in 2017 to receive a kidney and pancreas transplant. Thereafter, and up until his death, he was employed by Century Link and Pearce Communication.
He had a passion for sports, golf, bowling, baseball, or whatever, and especially watching his favorite NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys. He was also proud of the two rings he earned for twice bowling a perfect score of 300.
Steve’s love for his dog, Shadow, made him a mainstay at the West Branch Dog Park, where he was well-respected for his presence and help with other dog lovers in West Branch.
Steve is survived by his father, Donald R. Bickford, of West Branch; his mother, Sandra Bickford-Perry (Jeff) of San Jose, Calif.; his sister, Melissa; nephew Nicholas; his uncle, Jim Newton (Jane); and other aunts, uncles and cousins on his father’s side.
A Celebration of Life and Dedication is planned for Sunday, May 1, at 3 p.m. at the West Branch Dog Park.
