Erma E. Black, 84, of West Liberty died Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.

Funeral services were Nov. 4, 2013, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation was prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in West Liberty. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com.

Erma Evelyn Sterner was born March 24, 1929, in Atalissa, Iowa, the daughter of George and Florence Aye Sterner. She was a graduate of Atalissa High School in the Class of 1947. On March 19, 1951, she was united in marriage to Robert Black in Muscatine, Iowa.

She has been employed with Gene Mitchell Trucking, West Liberty State Bank and also did day care in her home. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of the West Liberty Country Club. She enjoyed golfing, fishing, Chicago sports teams and traveling to casinos.

Survivors include her son Rob (Connie) Black of Atalissa; four grandchildren: Abe Black of Muscatine, Miranda (Ben) Palmer of West Branch, Maggie (Ethan) Krob of Tipton and Sam (Jared) Anderson of Yates City, Ill.; great-grandchildren: Simon, Oliver, August and Frances Palmer, Greta and Matilda Krob and Lou Anderson; four brothers: Dean (Delores) Sterner of Springfield, Mo., Raymond (Ruth) Sterner of Davenport, Ronnie (Carol) Sterner of Eldridge, and Darel (Donna Fae) Sterner of West Liberty.

She was preceded in death by husband Robert in 1989.
