West Branch Fire Department responded about 12:17 p.m. Oct. 29 to a car crash on Interstate 80 at milemarker 259, near the West Liberty exit.
Fire Chief Kevin Stoolman said one car rear-ended the other while driving eastbound. The car that rear-ended the second vehicle drove into a field on the southside of the highway and caught on fire. Stoolman said that driver escaped without injury.
The driver of the second vehicle pulled off the highway and was treated with minor injuries and taken by West Liberty Ambulance to an Iowa City hospital.
West Branch Police also responded to the scene to help Iowa State Patrol direct traffic.
An ISP report with further details was not released as of press time.
