Dale Rodgers, 87, West Branch

Dale Rodgers, son of John and Ruby (Squires) Rodgers, was born on June 13, 1926, at Arlington, Iowa.

He attended country school in the Arlington area and served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

On Aug. 29, 1950, he was united in marriage with Marilyn Bismark at the United Methodist Church in Fayette, Iowa.

Dale passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Crestview Care Center. He was 87 years old.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the VFW in Tipton, Iowa. Grave side services will follow immediately after at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery with military rites provided by VFW Post 2537.

Before retiring, Dale worked for Larew Plumbing and Heating in Iowa City. He retired in 1988. He was a member of the VFW Post 2537. In his free time he enjoyed his family, friends and gardening.

Dale is survived by his wife, Marilyn; six children: Sue (Dave) Lovell, Atalissa, Iowa, Randy (Gloria) Rodgers and Michael (Jennifer) Rodgers both of Cedar Valley, Iowa, Karen (Leland) Gritton of Rochester, Iowa, Vicki (Randy) Wailand of Tipton, Iowa, and Kris (Chad) Wright of Nichols, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister: Maxine Peters of Waterloo, Iowa; and one special brother-in-law Harold Maser of Fayette, Iowa.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Charles; four sisters: Doris, Neola, Fonda, Darlene (twin); two brothers Robert “Bob” and George; two half-brothers, Le Roy and Harold Ward; and one great-grand child, Anna McAtee.
