West Branch Middle School hosted a blood drive March 25 at Hoover Elementary School in the gymnasium.

With the help of the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center, WBMS hosted the blood drive with the goal of collecting 20 pints.

Thirty-seven donors stopped in, with 28 pints collected and nine turned away for medical reasons.

By making the goal, WBMS is eligible for a $250 grant for which it will donate to the American Heart Association to finance research on heart disease and stroke.

"Thank you West Branch community!" organizer at WBMS teacher Cam Stockman said.
