Sports · February 08, 2013

West Branch High School senior Bo Bower on Monday decided to play football for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes.
Bower had several colleges and universities courting him to play, but the top two were UI, which offered him preferred walk-on status, and University of Northern Iowa, which at first was offering him a partial scholarship and then a full scholarship.

Bower announced his decision on Facebook.

“It’s official,” he wrote. “I am going to be a Hawkeye!!”

His post garnered more than 160 “likes” and numerous congratulations. A West Branch Times posting about Bower’s decision pulled in more than 90 “likes” and two “shares” along with more well-wishing.

He is the fourth West Branch football player to choose to play for the Division I team. The first was Marv Cook, a 1985 graduate of WBHS, who later went on the play professional football.
