The West Branch Middle School Lego League earned another trip to state.

The team competed in a regional competition Dec. 16 in Davenport and placed first in the Core Values category. They advance to the state competition Saturday in Ames.

Superintendent Kevin Hatfield reported on this Monday to the Board of Education.

“We wish them luck,” he said.

The team is coached by Talented And Gifted teacher Kelly Roane, who said only five of 22 teams advanced to state.

This year’s team, the Mind Maniacs, has 10 members: seventh graders are Ethan Fetzer, Will Martin, John Muckler, Annika Olson, Andrew Shields, and McKenna Walsh; and sixth graders are Ben Colbert, Jack Dragovich, John Hatfield and Lexi Clemens.
