Power outage stems from Tipton
News · January 12, 2013

A power outage about 9:05 a.m. Dec. 28 stemmed from line work going on in Tipton, according to the Tipton Conservative.
While the outage in West Branch, Springdale and Downey lasted about 50 minutes, power was out in Tipton for about two hours when preliminary work to build a new electric substation tripped the Alliant Energy power supply to the two cities, as well as Rochester.

Tipton has backup generators in place, according to the newspaper, but a transformer problem only allowed them to service part of the west side of town.
