Mabel Baker, 88, of West Branch died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at the Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center in West Branch.

A graveside service was Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cedar Valley. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch is in charge of arrangements.

Mabel was born Feb. 27, 1924, in Stanwood, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Hazel Graft Mussig. She was united in marriage to Francis Baker in 1949. Together, they farmed north of West Branch near Plato for many years. Following the death of Francis in 1991, Mabel remained on the farm for a few years and then moved to Crestivew, where she made her home.

Survivors include her son, Clifford Mussig of Chicago, Ill.; brothers, Laurence (Arline) Mussig of Tacoma, Wash., and Jake Mussig of Maquoketa, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and her extended family at Crestview.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Clarence, and one nephew.
