Police snag 53 pounds of drugs News · October 12, 2012
On Sept. 29, the West Branch Police Department, in cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Administration, collected unwanted, unneeded and expired prescription drugs from the public at the West Branch United Methodist Church. Approximately 30 residents turned in 52.8 pounds of potentially dangerous drugs, which were given to the DEA for safe, environmentally friendly disposal.
The WBPD thanked the public for their help in making the community safer and expressed appreciation to area businesses for their assistance in spreading the word about the event, city employees and the City Council for their support and assistance and West Branch United Methodist Church for hosting the event.
A total of 4,374 pounds were collected in Iowa and a total of 95 pounds in Cedar County, which includes the West Branch total.
