Absentee ballots are now available for the general election to be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
The Cedar County Auditorís Office will mail a ballot to any registered voter in Cedar County that requests one by mail.
Requests may be obtained from the Cedar County Auditorís Office or by downloading at www.cedarcounty.org.
The request form should be sent to the Cedar County Auditorís Office, 400 Cedar Street, Tipton, IA 52772, and include the voterís name, date of birth, signature, the address at which the voter is registered to vote and the name or date of the election (General Election Ė Nov. 6, 2012), and the address to which the ballot should be sent if different from the registration address.
Voters may designate any person of their choice to deliver their voted absentee ballot to the County Auditor. Voters still have the option of mailing the ballot, postage is prepaid.
To be counted, ballots delivered by mail must be postmarked no later than midnight, Nov. 5, and received no later than the beginning of the canvass by the Board of Supervisors on Nov. 13. Hand-delivered ballots must reach the auditorís office no later than 9 p.m. (closing time of the polls) on Election Day, Nov. 6.
Voters may vote absentee in the auditorís office through Nov. 5.
