Big Brothers/Sisters meeting

A new youth program is coming to town, and West Branch area residents are invited to learn more.

An information session about Big Brothers Big Sisters will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 4-6 pm at the West Branch Public Library.

Program leaders from Big Brothers Big Sisters will talk about the agency’s recent expansion to West Branch. In partnership with the West Branch Community School District, 20 West Branch youth will receive one-to-one mentors through Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Scott Hansen, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters, says that he hopes to speak with potential volunteers, interested parents, and anyone who is interested in strengthening support services in West Branch. Everyone is welcome to drop in during the two-hour session. Volunteer applications will be available, as well as information about how mentoring works and the positive impact it has on youth.
