The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service will welcome 76 new citizens during a special naturalization ceremony at the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21.
The 76 candidates originate from 37 countries. This event is part of the USCIS’s annual celebration of Constitution Day and Citizenship Day.

Constitution Day is Sept. 17 in remembrance of the signing of the Constitution in 1787; Citizenship Day has been celebrated in conjunction with Constitution Day since 1952.

The Honorable Jon S. Scoles, Chief Magistrate Judge of the United States District Court, Northern District of Iowa, will administer the Oath of Allegiance. The Extension Chordes, a local vocal group, will sing the National Anthem.

This is the seventh time that this ceremony has been hosted by the Hoover Library-Museum. The ceremony is a cooperative effort of the USCIS, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa, the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum, the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site and the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Association.
