8th boys go 1-3 to Wilton, Durant Sports · March 03, 2010
The eighth-grade boys basketball team struggled against conference foes Wilton and Durant in recent contests.
Against Wilton, the A team lost 28-13. Nevin Tucker led with seven points, Michael Gould had four points and Jon Gingerich had two points. The team had three assists, 22 rebounds, four steals and 17 turnovers.
“Defense was excellent,” Coach Butch Pedersen said. “We had open shots but only hit five of 23 from the floor. Hustle was good.”
In the B game, the Bears won 20-19. Justin Roth led with seven points, Tyler Donovan had five, Jacob Webb had four, and Joshua Snyder and Cody Miller each had two. The team had five assists, 16 rebounds, nine steals and seven turnovers.
“Congrats on a big win,” Pedersen told the team. “Hustle was great.”
Against Durant, the A team lost 32-26. Michael Gould led with nine points, Nevin Tucker had eight, Joe Tatman had five and Jon Gingerich had four. The team had three assists, 19 rebounds, 11 steals and 15 turnovers.
Pedersen said the team “improved a lot this year.”
In the B game, the boys lost 25-20. Jon Gingerich led with seven points, Justin Roth and Joshua Snyder each had four, Tyler Donovan had three and Nathan Juels had two. The team had three assists, 18 rebounds, 13 steals and 11 turnovers.
“We had good hustle all year,” Pedersen said, adding that the coaches were proud of the team. |
