Marvin Lloyd Beaver, of Laurie, Mo., and formerly of West Liberty, passed away Jan. 30, 2010, at the Laurie Care Center.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Marvin was born in West Liberty, Iowa, Dec. 24, 1919, to Lloyd and Sophia (Peggy) Wendt Beaver.
He was a veteran of World War II, injured in battle and received the Purple Heart. After returning home, he married Dorothy Whitmer in 1946. They had three children: Phyllis, Larry, and Vickie. Marvin farmed all his adult life north of West Liberty until his retirement. He enjoyed dancing with his wife, going to Arizona in the winter, and traveling.
He is survived by one son, Larry Beaver and his wife Evelyn of Laurie, Mo.; two daughters, Phyllis Collins and her husband Chuck of Swisher, and Vickie Hrovat and her husband Dale of Chandler, Ariz.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother Don Beaver* and his wife Lourena of West Liberty; sister Luva Jean Peterson and husband Elmer of Tipton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, mother, father, and brother Lawrence “Buck.”
