Leanna Brown Thomas, 92, of West Branch, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2007. She was visiting with her niece and sister, at Mount Vernon when she passed away.

She was born Nov. 15, 1914, to Mae and Cleveland Brown. On April 26, 1936, she was united in marriage to Wm. Minard Thomas. It was a day when there was a fire and Minard, being a fireman, was taken away, but returned for the ceremony. They lived in West Branch all of their lives, active in many organizations, church, school, and political activities. Leanna recently moved to Cookson Memorial Home, enjoying the month while there.

She was the sub on the rural mail route for Minard for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, loved by many. She enjoyed playing cards and games with her grandkids, reading books, watching birds and going to Dale Thomas Band dances.

Surviving relatives include her two sons and one daughter, Dale Thomas (Carol), Don Thomas (Sue) and Sue Ellen Campbell (Kent); one sister, Pauline Pendergast; eight grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Leanna was preceded in death by her husband, Minard, three sisters and one brother.

Visitation was held 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Henderson- Barker Funeral Home in West Branch.

The funeral service was held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at the West Branch United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the West Branch Cemetery, at a later date.
