ACT picks Edwards, Torkelson News · February 15, 2018
The Iowa City UNESCO City of Literature organization’s annual One Book Two Book Children’s Literature Festival will recognize the creative excellence of more than 80 area students over the course of the three-day festival, Feb. 23-25.
West Branch eighth-grader Lainee Edwards won for her grade in the “From The Heart” division, beating out competitors from 22 area schools. Classmate Samuel Torkelson earned an honorable mention.
For earning first place, Edwards earned the opportunity to read her writing to the audience.
The winners were selected by ACT in Iowa City, which looked for creativity, passion and expressiveness.
West Branch Middle School recognized the two in its daily announcements, asking everyone to congratulate the two for their accomplishments.
