Herbert Hoover Presidential Library-Museum Archivist Lynn Smith will use photographs and films to share stories of the various modes of transportation used by the U.S. Presidents at 2 p.m. on Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 19, in the Figge Auditorium.

Over the past century, modes of presidential transportation have changed. Early presidents rode horses or in horse drawn carriages. The development of trains and automobiles made traveling long distances faster. The advent of flying machines, airplanes and helicopters, enhanced speed even more. Using historic photographs and films, Smith will share stories about the various modes of presidential transportation from the carriage of president Abraham Lincoln to the Air Force One used by George W. Bush. She will also talk about the museums across the U.S. where some of these presidential vehicles can be seen today.
