Glen Henry “Beaver” Kofron, 70, of Washington, Iowa, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City following a lengthy illness.

To honor Glen’s life, the family received friends Jan. 12, 2018, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington. Military honors were accorded Friday evening. A general memorial has been established. Online condolences may be sent for Glen’s family through the web at jonesfh.com.

Glen was born July 1, 1947, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Henry and Mearl (Kabela) Kofron. He attended school in West Branch and graduated from West Branch High School in 1965. Glen served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1970 until 1972, where he was stationed in Germany. He was united in marriage to Judy (Dalton) Swart on May 7, 2014. Glen was previously married to Mary (Freyermuth) Blakley on Aug. 3, 1977.

Glen lived most of his life in the West Branch area moving to Washington in 1990. He worked in the construction industry for many years and later worked at the University of Iowa. Glen enjoyed the outdoors where he spent time trapping, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time at the Riverside Casino. Glen was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Football Fan.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Swart of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Michelle (Rigoberto) Castillo of Columbus Junction, Iowa; daughter, Patty (Steve) Duffe of Moscow, Iowa; son, Tony (Tammy) Blakley of Ainsworth, Iowa; daughter, Danita Blakley of Austin, Texas; son, Dusty (Michelle) Swart of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Tracy Christner of Augusta, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Glen is also survived by three brothers: Richard Rogers of California; Ed Kofron of Atalissa, Iowa; and Bill (Cheryl) Kofron of Rochester, Iowa; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
