Thomas Walter Rock, 74, of Atalissa, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at his home. Cremation rites have been facilitated by the FCS Life Transition and Cremation Center.

A Celebration of Life and time of fellowship will be held on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017 from 2-6 p.m. at the Atalissa Fire Station. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for Thomas’ family and the arrangements.

Thomas Walter Rock was born on June 9, 1943, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Harry A. and Wilma I. (Tomasson) Rock. On Sept. 1, 1963, Thomas was united in marriage to Susan Dickey in Atalissa. Thomas retired from HON Industries after many years. He was a member of the MWF Breakfast Club and a past member of the Moose Lodge. Thomas enjoyed spending time in his recliner, eating fried green tomatoes, driving racecar No. 52, watching dirt track racing, dancing, playing cards — especially euchre and kings corner — and going to the Riverside Casino.

Thomas will be deeply missed by his wife, Sue, of Atalissa; children, Kim (Brian) Campbell of Atalissa, Tom Rock Jr. of Atalissa, and Jody (Arica) Rock of Cullom, Ill.; eight grandchildren: Kyle (Brittany), Blake, Chet, Cassie, Gabe, Danielle, Addisyn and Bryce; sister Elaine Kemp of Johnston; sister-in-law Barb Rock of Atalissa; several brothers-in-law; several sisters-in law; several nieces; several nephews; and several cousins.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Harry Lee, Buck and Bill.
