WB runners help ‘Hawks win Noelridge Park race

West Branch runners helped City High’s junior varsity boys cross country team finish first Sept. 7 at Noelridge Park.
Three City High boys’ cross country teams competed at the Cedar Rapids Invitational meet at the park in northeast Cedar Rapids Sept. 7. The host school was Cedar Rapids Washington.
The varsity team placed third, the junior varsity was first, and the sophomore team placed third.
“City High boys ran great with 28 of 32 runners improving their race times from last year, and 15 runners set personal records,” City High Head Coach Jayme Skay said.
Caden Turnbough was the frontrunner for the Bear-Hawks in the varsity race. He finished second in 16:21.18. Quenton Max was 11th with a time of 16:44.11. James Momburg finished in 20th place with a time of 16:54.51. In 34th place as Eric Thomas. He finished in 27:18.49. Rounding out the scorers was Owen Jones who was 37th in 17:22.08.
Three West Branch runners ran in the JV race. John Muckler was 18th in 1:25.23. Will Martin was 50th in 19:05.84. Keegan Sotelo finished in 20:16.56 for 97th place.
Barrett Walsh was the West Branch runner in the sophomore race. He ran the race in 21:03.37 for 126th place.
