Carol Ann Essington, 72, of West Branch, Iowa, formerly Normal, Ill., passed away at 11:10 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017, at her residence in West Branch, Iowa.
Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1017 N. School St, Normal, Ill. Dr. Ralph Wingate, Jr. will be officiating. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington, Ill. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, 1115 E. Washington St, Bloomington Ill. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Christian Academy Music Department.
Ann was born Oct. 11, 1944, in Princeton, Indiana, the daughter of John and Olive Belcher Webber. She married Roger Dean Essington on July 17, 1971, in Kankakee, Ill. He survives.
Also surviving are her two sons, Craig (Jennifer) Essington of West Branch, Iowa, Michael Essington of Washington, DC; six grandchildren: Natalie, Katelyn, Ethan, Matthew, Rebecca and Caleb Essington, all of West Branch, Iowa; two brothers: Jon (LaVonne) Webber of Alpharetta, Ga., and Steve Webber of Mt. Carmel, Ill.; and one sister, Beverly (Vernon) Watson of Mt. Carmel, Ill.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents.
Ann graduated from Illinois State University in Normal, IL. She taught in the Chebanse and Lincoln school districts. After she had children, she substituted at Calvary Baptist Academy and Unit 5 school district in Normal, Ill. She then worked at and retired from the Internal Revenue Service – CADC in Bloomington, Ill.
Ann was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Normal, Ill. She enjoyed gardening and was a devoted grandmother. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be missed by all who knew her.
