West Branch Community Development Group and its community ambassadors welcomed to downtown on July 13 a new business, Gray Goat Tattoo, owned by Beth Gray.
The company relocated from Tacoma, Wash., and opened here on March 3. Gray and wife Rene moved back to the Iowa City area to care for an ailing friend who, though expected to live longer, died in October.

The couple bought a house and “seized the opportunity” to relocate in an area with “a lot of antique stores.”

“I hope you enjoy your time here,” WBCDG Director Kevin Rogers said, offering the group’s services.

Several gathered for the ribbon-cutting ceremony: Thrivent Financial representative and Democratic candidate for state representative Jodi Clemens, U.S. Bank’s Tessa Wade, Rogers, Hoover Foundation’s Brad Reiners, Staker Chiropractic’s Shane Staker, WBCDG President and U.S. Bank’s Mark Vanlandschoot; Herbert Hoover National Historic Site Superintendent Pete Swisher, Community State Bank’s Ed Larew, Beth and Rene Gray, Cornerstone Real Estate owner Teresa Horton and Cornerstone agent Helen Fawcett.
