Police: Car broke free, hit trailer News · June 22, 2017
West Branch Police Department responded 5:25 p.m. May 27 to Fifth Street where a car struck a trailer.
According to a police report, Leonard Eugene Finck, 79, of West Branch attempted to use his 2003 Ford Ranger four-wheel-drive pickup truck to tow his Ford Taurus up his driveway. The two vehicles were connected “with only a log chain,” read the report.
The WBPD reported that Finck lost control of the car, which rolled back into a trailer, which “swung into” a motorcycle owned by James Albert Racey of West Branch, causing about $100 worth of damage to the motorcycle.
Police report that Finck did not report the incident or notify Racey, and stated Finck needs to get re-examined for his driver’s license; Finck was cited on a charge of striking an unattended vehicle.
