Mary Jean Fiderlein, 95, of West Branch, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at Crestview Specialty Care Center in West Branch.

Graveside services were Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in West Liberty. Visitation was Friday at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty with graveside services immediately following. A memorial fund has been established. Mary Jean was born on Aug. 21, 1921, the daughter of James Albert and Etta Phelps Kline. She attended Linn Grove country school and graduated from West Liberty High School in 1939. On May 16, 1942, Mary Jean was united in marriage to Louis Fiderlein of Atalissa; they had been married for more than 64 years. When Louis returned from the service in 1946, they farmed for more than 50 years west of West Liberty.

Mary Jean loved her family, life on the farm, cooking and playing bridge. She was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church.

Mary Jean is survived by one son, John and wife Sandy of West Branch; three grandchildren: Brian (Diane) Fiderlein of St. Louis Park, Minn., Chad (Deb) Fiderlein of West Branch, and Kelly (Jason) Brubaker of North Liberty, Iowa; four great-grandchildren: Cael and Wyatt Fiderlein of West Branch and Ashlyn and Reece Brubaker of North Liberty; and sister-in-law Marie Kline of Kansas City, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son William; five brothers: Joe Kline, Marion “Pete” Kline, Wayne Kline, Elmer Kline and Everett Kline; and three sisters: Alberta Kline, Hazel Freyermuth and Anna Kline.
