Donna Mae Phillips, 72, of West Branch died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 21, 2016.

Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial was held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. Visitation was Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the Donna Phillips Memorial Fund has been established, c/o PO Box 167, Iowa City, 52244.

Donna was born Oct. 1, 1944, in Iowa City, the daughter of Donald and Mary Helen Nortmann Thompson. She was raised in Coralville and was a graduate of Iowa City High School. Donna married the late Robert L. Phillips.

Donna moved to West Branch in 1978. She was employed for many years by the U.S. Postal Service at the Iowa City and Coralville Post Office.

Donna was a member of the Coralville American Legion Auxiliary and the “Glee Club.” She was proud of her Irish heritage. She was an avid shopper, Hawkeye and Cubs fan, and enjoyed time spent bowling. Donna loved a good joke and was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor.

Donna is survived by her daughter-in-law and two grandchildren, Christine (Jay) Phillips and their children, Elizabeth and Sean, all of Iowa City; her significant other and dear friend, Donovan “Bullet” Wright of West Branch; her sister, Sheila Jameson Parrett (Kevin) of Pennsylvania; her niece, Aime and nephews, Kevin Ryan, Jeffery and Matthew; and many friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1982, and her son Jay in 2015.
