Letter: Grassley also contributed to D.C. climate
Op-Ed · September 29, 2016

Iowans have a strong tendency to vote for incumbents. We have been granting this privilege to Senator Grassley for many years now.
This time around, we might consider a few points before marking the ballot for senator.

We have term limits for the presidential position, do the reasons for that also apply to Senate and Congress? We need to make a choice to support that concept.

We have an excellent candidate in Patty Judge, wife, mother, farmer, nurse.

Experience in the Iowa legislature, as lieutenant governor, and Secretary of Agriculture, grounded by a nurse’s compassion and resourcefulness in crises.

Despite many commendable efforts to work in a bi-partisan manner, Senator Grassley also has contributed to the current climate in D.C.

We have a national health emergency growing, with the Zika virus. I would think most of us want to see increased funding for that, yet the funding is delayed in an effort to eliminate a family planning option that more than half of us do support.

Our entire court system is understaffed, and this ripples out in many different social problems.

Do we want to have a replacement senator chosen by only a part of our populace, in the increasing risk of him dying in office?

Our world moves forward with new ideas, new strategies and a good dose of fresh air from time to time.

Please join me in supporting Patty Judge for US Senate.
