Speaking Volumes: Hendricksons talk about hosting writers from around U.S., world
by Nick Shimmin, WB Public Library · Op-Ed · September 15, 2016

The West Branch Public Library is happy to announce a visit from two Iowa Authors, Ray and Shirley Hendrickson who will be speaking at the library September 24th at 10am.

Ray and Shirley ran the Mission House Bed and Breakfast in Iowa City where they hosted writers from around the world visiting the university. Shirley went on to write Memoirs of the Mission House Bed and Breakfast and with urging from Shirley, Ray wrote a book about growing up in small town Iowa called Yarns by Ray.

In addition to talking about their books, the couple likes to encourage everyone to write their stories. “We like to present our program to groups which highlights ‘Write YOUR Life Story’. We want to touch the listener to remember and recall special times in their lives. Encourage them to document and save memories. How many times have we heard families sadly say, ‘I wish Dad and Mom had written about their life experiences’”.

We hope to see you on the 24th!
