Letter: Hometown pride showed at Hoover Days
Op-Ed · August 11, 2016

I want to thank the West Branch community for a terrific Hoover’s Hometown Days weekend.

I have the privilege of having a display promoting the Quad Cities at the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site, but I really noticed the hospitality and community pride that was evident everywhere and by everyone.

Congratulations to the City of West Branch for being honored with the 2016 Midwest Region Excellence in Partnership Award from the National Park Service.

What a way to celebrate the community, the life of President Hoover, and the centennial year of the National Park Service.

I will return to West Branch Friday, Aug. 19 when I host a group from the American Queen which will be docked at the Bettendorf riverfront and which will visit the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site for that afternoon.

I will be able to share your hospitality and community pride with that group thanks to my experience at Hoover’s Hometown Days.
