Guadalupe Ortiz, 78, of West Liberty passed away Monday, July 11, 2016, at her home in West Liberty, surrounded by her family.
Funeral mass will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty, with visitation being held from 5 to 7 at the church. Burial will be held at a later date in the San Andres Cemetery in Nava, Coahuila, Mexico. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements. Guadalupe was born Oct. 26, 1938, in Nava, Coahuila, the daughter of Pascual and Juanita (Gonzalez) Becerra. On Feb. 17, 1957, she was united in marriage to Ramiro Ortiz.
She was very family oriented, being together with her family was her greatest joy. She enjoyed singing and dancing, especially with her sons.
Survivors include husband Ramiro of West Liberty; six children: Hector Julian (Nenia) Ortiz of West Liberty, Maria Teresa (Jose) Guerrero of West Liberty, Sylvia (Rogelio) Frausto of Lancaster, Texas, Carmela (Santiago) Lechuga of West Liberty, Ramiro (Jaine) Ortiz of Muscatine and Dolores (Miguel) Rodriguez of West Liberty; sister Magdalena Becerra in Mexico; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
