On March 4, 1956, he was united in marriage to Shirley Helble of Princeton, Iowa. Together they farmed west of West Liberty for over 60 years, 14 of which were farmed with Bill and Emma Hotz Sr.

Bob was a member of the Muscatine County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, going to the Ozarks and Branson to the Western music shows, card club and feeding a lot full of Black steers. One of his highlights was watching his son and two granddaughters show their cattle at the West Liberty Fair. A joy was seeing Michigan Stadium and hearing Hillary Clinton speak at his daughter’s graduation.

Survivors include wife Shirley of West Liberty; two children, Bill Frauenholtz and Susan Frauenholtz, both of West Liberty; two granddaughters, Hillary and Adriane; two brothers, Don (Thelma) Frauenholtz and Frances (Ruth) Frauenholz; and one sister-in-law, Shirlee Frauenholtz; and many nieces and nephews.
