To celebrate Lukas’ life, family and friends may visit from 9 a.m., until the time of services at noon, on Wednesday at Behr Funeral Home. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.

Lukas was born on Sept. 2, 2014, in Dubuque, and dearly welcomed into this world as the second son of Jacob Bedtka and Carissa Bishop.

Even though Lukas spent the majority of his life enduring cancer treatments; he was the happiest little boy who was always full of joy and courageously kept a continuous smile on his face, which would easily capture the hearts of all around him. His love for life was absolutely amazing and his inner strength should be an inspiration to us all. Although Lukas had an undeniably short journey, his impact on the world around him will resound triumphantly through the lives of his family, friends and countless caregivers. We must say good-bye to Lukas now and bravely move forward into a world which will never be the same. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him!

Those left to cherish Lukas’ memory include his loving parents, Jacob Bedka and Carissa Bishop of West Branch, Iowa; his adoring older brother, Eli Bedtka, at home; his grandparents, Candi Bishop of Andrew, Iowa, Chris (Deb) Bishop of Wilton, Iowa, Ronald Bedtka of Dubuque and Shirley (Richard) Kenny of Ryan, Iowa; his great-grandparents, Stanley (Vicki) Clark, Monmouth, Iowa, and Ron (Kate) Ehlts of Hopkinton, Iowa; his aunts and uncles, William Bishop of Andrew, Iowa, Courtney (Corina) Bishop of Wilton, Iowa, Bobby (Lindsey) Clark of West Branch, Iowa, Jer (Dana) Bedtka of La Motte, Iowa, Corey Bedtka of Dubuque, Rachel (Chris) Weber of East Dubuque, Ill., Timothy (Verona) Bedtka, Dubuque; and many saddened cousins.
