Firefighters raise $1,442

According to an April 24 memo from the city to West Branch City Council members, local firefighters who participated in the American Lung Assoc. Fight for Air Climb in Des Moines raised $1,442 at the April 10 event.


Nevin Tucker, Logan Cilek, Trent Tisinger and Jose Gongora participated, raising money from friends, family and the comminity. They had a goal of $1,000.

Wearing their firefighting gear, their relay team finished the stair-climbing race in fourth place, tied with another team out of the 15 that competed.

Tucker climbed 15 floors at the EMC Insurance Co. building; Tisinger climbed 23 floors at the Financial Center; Cilek climbed 16 floors at Hub Tower; and Gongora climbed 32 floors at the Ruan Center. In all, the team climbed 86 floors in 24 minutes, 16 seconds.
