Editorial: Go anti-troll
Op-Ed · November 25, 2015

Less than four weeks ago, Hoover Elementary pumped Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” throughout the gymnasium while pupils paraded around in their Halloween costumes. And less than a week ago, West Branch got hit with its first snowstorm.

After the seemingly neverending winter of 2014-15, we seemed to slingshot through a mild summer and barreled through fall — or, as we call it in Bear country, volleyball and football season — and here we are, just a month away from Christmas and five weeks from 2016.

Families running full-tilt toward the new year — It’s time for moms and dads to throw up their arms and screech to a halt with the kids colliding into them. Thursday is Thanksgiving Day.

Yes, there’s still gobs to do with homework and end-of-year projects at the office and holiday shopping and dodging presidential candidates and … wait.

Take. A. Breath.

Instead at looking for all the negatives, like the undone chores, that funny noise under the hood, imperfect health and the lack of sidewalk salt, it’s time to go anti-troll on our lives and focus on All. The. Good.

Some of us need to work harder than others, but the good is there to find. Crank Pharrell Williams if it helps.

Don’t just express thanks. BE thankful.

The West Branch Times wants to wish everyone a great Thanksgiving Day.
