Quilting for Clinton
by Gregory R. Norfleet · News · June 25, 2015

Supporters of Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party presidential nomination gathered June 16 for the second of at least three weeks to sew together a quilt with Clinton’s logo.

The idea of West Branch resident Clara Oleson, the 26-inch logo has been designed into multi-colored stripes to represent diversity.

Oleson decorated Town Hall, where the group gathers to work on the quilt on Tuesday nights, with finished quilts and Clinton campaign items and plays music to add to the atmosphere.

She said each work session includes reading from Clinton’s book, “Hard Choices.”

Once the top, batting and back are together, the outer edge of the quilt will get a multi-colored trim and added to the back will be a piece of fabric with the names of all who helped.

Oleson said the Democratic Party will mail the quilt around and have it signed by supporters.
