Burke Rhoads family issues statement after funeral
News · March 26, 2015

The family of West Branch native Burke Rhoads, a Kentucky police officer killed in a crash earlier this month, issued a statement Monday:

"The family of Officer Burke Rhoads would like to extend the sincerest gratitude towards the citizens of the Nation, the State of Kentucky, and especially the Nicholasville Police Department, and everyone who helped us mourn the loss of Officer Burke Rhoads. Our hearts are heavy, but we are encouraged by the outpouring of support in the form of everything from lighting blue lights to Congressman Barr’s kind words. To the men, women, and children who lined the path as we drove to Camp Nelson, you are an inspiration to us. May you hug your loved one’s tighter and cherish each moment."

Rhoads, a 1997 graduate of West Branch High School, was driving in a fog March 11 when his vehicle was struck by two others south of Lexington.
