Lois M. Collier, 93, of West Branch, formerly of Ainsworth, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at the Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at the Grandview Cemetery. Visitation for Lois will be held on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Lois M. Johnson was born on Aug. 14, 1921, in Louisa County, Iowa, the daughter of James W. and Orpha Mae (Patterson) Johnson. Lois attended area country schools and grew up on the family farm. On Oct. 19, 1939, Lois was united in marriage to Ray A. Collier in Washington, Iowa, a marriage that lasted 64 years until Ray’s death in 2003. She was a homemaker, gifted seamstress, who enjoyed bowling, playing cards and neighborhood club. Lois especially enjoyed getting together with family for meals on holidays and special occasions.
Lois will be deeply missed by her daughter, Lois M. Oaks, and husband, Jim of West Branch; one granddaughter, Jennifer Rohret and husband, Ron, of rural Solon; great-granddaughter, Jenna L. Rohert; one sister, Wilma Hartman of Muscatine; one brother, Roy Johnson and wife, Betty of Letts; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Ray Collier, Jr.; and sisters Betty, in infancy, and Dorothy McKeever.
