Speaking Volumes: Walk through Hundred-Foot Journey
by Nick Shimmin, WB Public Library · Op-Ed · February 12, 2015

I may be slightly biased, but in the services and programs that the library offers, one stands out heavily to me as one that never receives as much attention as it should.

Every month for many years, the library’s book discussion meets to discuss a book.

This month, I would highly encourage you to try the book discussion as we read “The Hundred Foot Journey.” It’s the story of a boy who grows up in the world of Indian and French cuisine as he learns about his affinity and love of cooking – a cross between Slumdog Millionaire (though definitely not as heavy) and Ratatouille (minus rats).

And, if your to-read list is already long, the book is not very long and it is a quick read. You might also find the movie adaptation on DVD.

So, if that sounds a bit interesting to you or you have been looking for a group to talk about what you’ve read, please join us on Feb. 17th, 7 pm, at the library.

Now, a few recent additions to our collection:

New Books (Adults): “Captiva” by Randy Wayne White; “Death of a Liar” by M.C. Beaton; “Insatiable Appetites” by Stuart Woods (also in LP); “The Girl on the Train” by Paula Hawkins (being heavily touted for enjoyers of “Gone Girl”); “The Nightingale” by Kristin Hannah; “Saving Grace” by Jane Green; “Where Trust Lies” by Janette Oke

New Books (Teens and Kids): “A Crankenstein Valentine” by Samantha Berger; “Llama Llama I Love You” by Anna Dewdney; “Look and Find: Frozen; This Orq (He Cave Boy)” by David Elliot; “The Story of the Leprechaun” by Katherine Tegen
