Elsie Elizabeth Morgan, 101, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.

A visitation celebrating her life was held Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. A graveside service was held Saturday at Oak Ridge Cemetery in West Liberty. Elsie was born June 29, 1913, to Harry Lee and Sarah Gallagher Fountain near Lone Tree, Iowa. She graduated from Lone Tree High School in 1931. She was united in marriage to Charles R. Morgan in 1933. They farmed in Louisa and Muscatine counties, finally settling in 1948 in the Cedar Valley area. She was a member of the Cedar Valley Methodist Church and its groups. Elsie was proficient in quilting and other needle crafts. With a neighbor, she assisted in the Muscatine County fair in the needlework department for many years.

Elsie and Charles retired to town in 1976 and she started attending the Senior Center for writing and painting classes. She made a booklet of her memories and life for her four children. After Charley’s death, she moved to Heath Manor before moving to the Simpson Memorial Home after her 100th birthday.

She is survived by daughter Clodean (Lyle) Lord of Iowa City; three sons: Lon Morgan of Muscatine, Charles Jr. (Lloyse Lou) Morgan of Iowa City and Wade Morgan of Belle Plaine, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and sisters: Marjorie Reese of Lone Tree and June Allison of Clarence.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, two brothers and three sisters.

Elsie will be missed for her quiet dignity.
