Margaret Viola Bell, 100, of West Liberty, formerly of Fort Dodge, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.

Funeral service s were held Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Visitation was prior to the services at the church on Tuesday. Burial was in the North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret was born Aug. 16, 1914, in Lucas, Iowa, the daughter of Everett and Katie Chaney Cooper. She was a graduate of Lucas High School. On Oct. 30, 1933, she was united in marriage to James E. Bell in Osceola, Iowa.

She had been employed with A&P Grocery in Des Moines and Goodyear Tire in Akron, Ohio, before moving to Fort Dodge in 1944. She later worked at Globe Union for several years in Fort Dodge.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Dodge and Order of Eastern Star Aurora Chapter. She enjoyed fishing with her husband in Minnesota and Canada and spent many winters in Arizona and Florida following James’ retirement. Following the death of her husband in 2004, she moved to West Liberty to be near her daughter and spent the last 10 years at Simpson Assisted Living and later Simpson Memorial Home.

Survivors include her daughter, Jody Jones of West Liberty; seven grandchildren: Barb (Mike) Besch, Jim (Char) Kuhn, Brad (Theresa) Kuhn, Rod (Carol) Kuhn, Jeff (Tess) Jones, Susan Fittro (Scott Grimm) and Paul (Cheri) Jones; 17 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, James in 2004, daughter Leona in 1999, brother Wayne and two sons-in-law: Larry and Ed.
