Larry D. Krutzfield, 63, of Anamosa died peacefully on June 24, 2014, at Jones County Regional Medical Center in Anamosa.

Friends called June 27, 2014, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello, Iowa.

Funeral services were Saturday, June 28, 2014, at the First Congregational Church of Anamosa with inurnment in Madison Cemetery in Center Junction. Officiating was Rev. Greg Griffin.

Larry was born on Feb. 4, 1951, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Richard and Mary (Paulsen) Krutzfield. He married Marie Gray on Aug. 21, 1971, in Center Junction, Iowa. Larry began working with his dad at Krutzfield Trucking, and eventually bought his dad’s interest in the company. He worked at Frontier Feeds for six years and has been working for the City of Anamosa for the last 15 years.

Larry especially enjoyed spending time with Marie, who was his wife and best friend, and his family. He was a baseball fan who not only went to watch the Kernels but also especially loved his grandchildren’s games. He went on the occasional fishing trip and spent a lot of free time washing cars, mowing his yard and feeding his squirrels and birds. He could be seen driving around town on his “Harley,” a silver moped. Larry had a quick wit and could pull off a one-liner like no one else. His laugh and smile were contagious.

Survivors include his wife and best friend, Marie; two children: Amy (fiancé Josh Elliott) Buffington of New London, Iowa, and Shawn (Brian) Pierce of West Branch, Iowa; three grandchildren: Addison Buffington, Lucas and Alyssa Pierce; one sister, Dorothy Cruise of Olin, Iowa; a brother, LeRoy (Sherry) Krutzfield of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; mother-in-law Dorothy Gray of Anamosa; sister-in-law Helen Busch of Williamsburg, Iowa; brother-in-law Bob (Deb) Gray of Center Junction; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Judy (John) Wawro; brother-in-law Lavern Cruise; father-in-law Robert Gray; and dog Rascal.
